HAVE CUTE CURLS LIKE TAYLOR SWIFT OR BOUNCING WAVES LIKE BEYONCE!
How many times have you sighed over the gorgeous pictures of your favourite celebs and wondered how you too could create the same amazing hairstyles with those incredible curls?
Or how those long, loose styles of Kim Kardashian or the frizzy, curly waves of Taylor Swift could be created in your very own bedroom?
Have you worried over the cost of all those gadgets you’d have to fork out on?
Or the many trips to the salon to maintain ‘the look’?
Most of us already own a hair dryer and armed with that and a bit of patience and by reading on, of course, worry no more…
Here is how you curl your hair with a blow dryer.
Most hair dryers come packaged with bog-standard attachments – most people ignore them but did you know, they can help create the most wonderful curls?
Ideally you should have a hair dryer that has a lot of power – at least 1200 watts.
Also a rounded hair brush is a curly hair must-have.
Don’t stress over the different hair dryer attachments – the manufacturer made them for a reason - not to confuse you!
Most hair dryers come with a diffuser.
For those with frizzy hair already and want to keep their style but just more managed. -(take a look at Beyonce’s sleek and tamed waves).
A dryer also comes with a concentrator (essential for those who want to have Rhihanna’s long and sexy curls).
This part, when attached to the end of your dryer, helps direct the hot air.
Using these easy to follow steps, you too can have the effortless curls created with your very own hair dryer at home, work, wherever:
Step 1 - Wash and dry
You could wash your hair from scratch as you’ll probably have previous products in which could affect your curly masterpiece.
Yet, you could dampen it, if you’re in a rush.
Towel dry your hair but leave it damp. Comb through your hair to ensure it’s knot and tangle-free.
Step 2 - Apply Product
You could add a styling product whilst your hair is still wet.
Distribute the product from root to the ends, scrunch and squeeze your hair.
Don’t use too much product as it’ll make your curls crunchy.
But, because you’re going to be blasting your hair with heat, it’s a good idea to try and protect it with specially designed products.
There are products you can use before or after styling to protect your hair from heat damage.
Step 3 - Sections
You might end up sectioned if you’re caught looking like this (!)
What we mean is divide your hair into upper and lower head sections and clip into place.
Use hair pins to keep the sections in place.
The more sections and the tighter they are rolled, the curlier your hair will become.
Step 4 - The Blow Dry
Using a round curling brush, start to curl the hair from the bottom of each section.
Curl the hair around the brush until the brush reaches the root of the hair.
Ensure the hair dryer has the concentrator attachment on as it helps direct the hot air into the target area.
Set the hair dryer on a moderate heat.
Don’t just blast your hair – keep checking whether it’s dry.
Over-fried hair is not a good look!
Step 5 - The Drying Motion
Starting with the lower sections of hair at the root, pull slowly down on the brush forming a curl.
Drying the hair downwards creates a more smooth, sophisticated curl.
Drying the hair upwards will create a more wild, wanton effect…
Follow the brush with the hair dryer, start at the roots and lift the hair up to add volume.
Do this for all the sections, until your hair is bone dry.
You may not have noticed this but there’s also a cold button on your dryer and its purpose is to lock your style in place.
So, before you finish drying, direct the cooler air onto your hair.
Step 6 - Brushing it out
So now you’ve got a headful of unruly beautiful curls.
Those curls just need brushing through gently and spraying into place and held with product.
If you had frizzy/curly hair to begin with it’s a matter of the right textualizing product.
This, combined with the diffuser (one of the attachments that came with the dryer) is ideal.
And that’s it, folks!
It is all about picking the right products.
Also finding the blow dryer with powerful wattage with attachments to suit your hair, whether it’s curly or straight to begin with.
You could fork out on an ionic dryer as it dries mega fast and is better for your hair.
So, with the right hair dryer, the right attachments, the right products and the right attitude, you too can create that salon style barnet of bouncing curls and get the celeb curl all of your own.
